![]() The only knowns regarding the Wind Fish are that while he sleeps, monsters are running wild in Koholint. ![]() Link's central mission is to wake the Wind Fish, a mammoth deity shrouded in mystery. (There's a reason he didn't know it existed, but let's keep this review spoiler-free.) This is a game that broadens the series' greater mythos, expanding Link's horizons beyond Hyrule's borders and into a world he didn't know existed. There's no Hyrule, there's no Triforce, and there isn't a single mention of Princess Zelda. However, while the Legend of Zelda formula is largely the same, Link's Awakening is a side story through and through. He'll get up and search for his sword, he'll journey to explore the world, and he'll jump headfirst into some dangerous dungeons. Link's adventure starts off similarly to some of his other ones. But that's definitely not a bad thing, as Link's Awakening shows that given an all-new coat of paint, an all-time classic can still hold up and excel in the 21st century. If you've played the original Game Boy classic, you're about to relive that same dream again. But for all that's new, this is an entirely familiar experience. It looks unlike anything Nintendo has put together, with a dazzling new art style that looks like something one would find inside a shoebox. This is The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. His memories are foggy, but there's one thing the player can surmise and that's that Link has been on this journey before. Link opens his eyes to find himself on a strange island filled with monsters, but also an island that's home to a peaceful village. Oh, and Sheep Attack comes fully upgraded at initial purchase. There's a violent storm and Link's tiny makeshift vessel is devastated by its awesome might. Regarding new items? Note Blocks, the Lakitu Cloud, Kuribo Shoe, Mossilixir and War Banner join the fray! That last one there, most of all…seriously, try out the War Banner!! This will be especially helpful in early game.īut there’s a lot more to the details than this overview. Other than that, there’s newness to check out! Players will have much more reasonable access to items like bracers, energizers and their beefier counterparts to give them an edge, and elixirs are either cheaper or more effective as well… Tadpole Pond is your friend! Parties will also be learning several spells a bit earlier, again to give players access to more tools sooner, while status-protecting “Pin” items are more defensive than before. The challenges are still in place but will be more fair to approach (and to boot, all defensive timings are slightly easier!) Especially taxing areas have been sanded further, each on a case-by-case basis. There’s been a painstaking difficulty pass, amounting to over two pages of notes just for foes and bosses. Keep a look out for the explorer! He may be trying to show you something! Secrets hidden throughout the hack! And more!.Players have half the life they normally get!.Players get hurt much faster than normal!.All special secret characters return with new ones! New characters are: Tangle, Whisper, Wave, Bunnie, Milla, Neera, Retsuko, And Droter!.Tongue’s Abominations and put an end to him in this finale to the Small ZAMN series. Work your way through 74 levels and fight off Dr. ![]() However, the bonus levels make up for this as each one has a 1UP somewhere in it and there is a bonus level every 2 levels and they’re filled with lots of goodies to help aid you on your journey. Players must fight for their survival as there aren’t many healing items and Victims don’t come back easily. Players start with 1 life and 150 ammo of a random Weapon and 1 of a random item. This Hack is the hardest in the small ZAMN trilogy. Tweety Bird, Henery Hawk, Sylvester Jr., Speedy Gonzales Pepe Le Pew, Gossamer, Ghost Kid, Elmer Fudd Marc Anthony, Instant Martian, K-9, Marvin the Martian Tasmanian Devil, Witch Hazel, Leprechaun, Beaky Buzzardįoghorn Leghorn, Barnyard Dawg, Porky Pig, Count Bloodcount Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck, Merlin the Magic Mouse It bridges the gap with the Game Boy sequels. Graphically, this is Crazy Castle like you’ve never seen it before. There are also five new cutscenes, and the hack is fully compatible with previous level hack packs. There have been hacks which change the levels in this game, but graphically it only has four enemies, most of whom are Sylvester the Cat.Īnimator and hacker Garrett Gilchrist, with Bavi_H and SpiderDave, has expanded the cast to twenty-eight Looney Tunes characters, including characters from other Crazy Castle games and characters newly animated for this release (like Marvin the Martian, the Instant Martian, Gossamer, Barnyard Dawg and more). It’s a popular NES title, but The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle has always felt a little lacking compared to its sequels on the Game Boy.
